Shifts: Days 9am-4pm Monday to Sunday

Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks pro rota

Overview

We are looking for a Domestic/Laundry Assistant to join our Limetree Residential team on a full-time contract, 35 hours per week.

The shifts are as follows (5 x 7hr shifts) 9am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Sponsorship is not available for this role.

All successful applicants will be required to comply with the Company Policies and Procedures.


Duties And Responsibilities

Laundry Operations:

  • Safely and efficiently operate all laundry machines, including industrial washing machines, tumble dryers, laundry presses, and household irons.
  • Organise and implement a personalised laundry system for residents, ensuring each resident’s garments are laundered according to their specific needs.
  • Follow washing instructions on garments to prevent damage, ensuring respect for residents’ personal belongings.
  • Attach identity labels to garments as needed.
  • Maintain the laundry room in a clean and tidy condition, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.

Cleaning Duties:

  • Clean designated areas of the Home according to an organised schedule, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are upheld.
  • Thoroughly clean vacant rooms immediately after they are vacated, ensuring they are ready for new occupants.
  • Ensure that plants are watered and flowers are properly attended to in designated areas.

Resident Care And Confidentiality:

  • Respect the privacy, dignity, and choice of residents. Always knock before entering bedrooms and avoid cleaning when a resident is eating in their room.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all residents’ personal information.

Communication And Reporting:

  • Incident Reporting: Report any breakages, broken furniture, or faulty equipment to the Home Manager. Record all accidents, incidents, and near misses as per the home’s procedures.
  • Notify the Home Manager of any deficits related to décor or the general upkeep of the Home.
  • Attend all staff meetings as scheduled by the Home Manager to stay informed and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Home.
  • Participate in all required staff training sessions to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist in other departments, as requested by the Home Manager.
  • Perform any other duties deemed reasonable by the Home Manager to support the overall operation of the Home.

Health and Safety

  • Being aware of the Company Health and Safety Policy and complying with same.
  • Taking appropriate Health and Safety precautions in relation to cross infection.
  • Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
  • Ensure safety signs displayed when necessary i.e. wet floor.
  • Maintain all equipment in good clean working order, immobilising and reporting any defective equipment.
  • Adhering to Fire Safety Policy.
  • Adhering to Company Policy on COSHH.
  • Adhering to Company Policy on Manual Handling.
  • Reporting all accidents, incidents or near misses to the Home Manager.

Whilst the above is an outline of the duties you will be required to carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required.


Essential Criteria:

  • No experience necessary

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous laundry experience in work or in a voluntary setting.
  • Previous domestic experience in work or in a voluntary setting.
  • Experience working within a Residential/Nursing Home or similar environment.

The Applicant Should Have:

  • Ability to strictly follow safety and cleaning guidelines (e.g., COSHH regulations).
  • Good Communication Skills for interacting with colleagues and residents.
  • Ability to organize your daily workload.

Full training will be provided.
