Starting salary for this Support Worker role is £30,518 (pro rata for part-time colleagues).

This role sits within a well-defined pay band, ensuring fair progression and career growth at BCP. Every new starter begins at the entry point of the band, guaranteeing consistency. About the Role

The BCP Supported Living Service empowers adults with learning disabilities to achieve independence in their own homes. Registered with the Care Quality Commission, we operate 24/7/365. You’ll work diverse shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays.


Main Purpose

  • Ensure personal care aligns with each individual’s care and support plans.

  • Person-centred care: Implement support plans to meet individual needs.
  • Tenancy support: Help individuals maintain their arrangements.
  • Personal care assistance: Include toileting, bathing, dressing, mobility, medication and moving/handling support.
  • Dignity and choice: Treat individuals with kindness, respect and respect their autonomy (e.g., in daily living decisions).
  • Domestic tasks: Assist with shopping, cooking, cleaning, and hygiene to improve independence.
  • Appointments: Help navigate hospitals, GP sessions, and yearly care plan reviews.
  • Community engagement: Encourage participation in hobbies, social life, and personal development within and beyond the home.
  • Effective communication: Tailor approaches (e.g., visual aids, sign language) to diverse needs.
  • Records: Carefully log all delivered support, medications and financial transactions.
  • Keyworker aspects: Primary contact liaising with families, professionals, and supporting assessments. Arrange home/community activities.
  • Care planning: Help prepare for reviews; encourage individuals to express future preferences.
  • Anti-discrimination: Work inclusively regardless of background, ability, sexual orientation etc.
  • Teamwork: Adapt to shifting duties flexibly within the team.
  • Behaviours of concern: Support individuals exhibiting challenging behaviour.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguard sensitive details about individuals or their circumstances.
  • Training: Attend necessary courses (e.g., moving/handling, medication administration).
  • Compliance: Uphold BCP Council policies, derived from the Equality Act, Health & Safety and Data Protection laws.
  • Safety: Follow fire procedures and take appropriate action.
