Store Door Host – Customer Experience (Part-Time)

Job Introduction

A position dedicated to surprising, amazing and amusing our customers while making every visitor feel warmly welcome through making, telling and sharing stories. As a Door Host, you will set the tone for exceptional service by serving as the first point of contact for guests, ensuring Selfridges delivers its world-famous hospitality from the moment they arrive.

This role is at the frontline of Selfridges’ experience — embodying our brand’s values to create memorable first impressions while upholding company standards and culture.

Hours

Mon–Sun, 30 hours per week (across 4 days)


Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • Deliver outstanding service, personalising interactions to delight every guest
  • Engage proverbially – make, tell, and share stories that bring the Selfridges experience to life
  • Capture and record additional information (e.g., surveys, loyalty sign-ups) while interacting
  • Be proactive, approaching customers warmly and seeking opportunities to enhance their visit
  • Share insights on other Selfridges departments (e.g., bespoke tailoring, beauty, food) with genuine enthusiasm

Guest Interaction & Upselling

  • Act as ambassador, clearly introducing and guiding customers to the Selfridges experience
  • Go above and beyond to exceed expectations, taking the initiative to offer extra services (e.g., concierge assistance, exclusive previews)
  • Present international etiquette and inclusive behaviours to cater to every guest

Collaboration & Feedback

  • Engage confidently and professionally with customers, colleagues, and managers
  • Distill guest feedback and pass insights to the team to improve service continuously

Store Sommatique & Environment

  • Maintain store decorum, abiding by health/safety and security protocols
  • Identify and address maintenance or hygiene issues (cleaning, signage, etc.), taking immediate action or escalating if needed
  • Follow Selfridges’ personal appearance standards at all times
  • Ensure team compliance with health & safety regulations; work closely with senior store staff for support
