About Yorkshire Water

We offer:

  • Competitive salary: £80,000 to £90,000 (Band 3a), dependent on experience

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in one of the UK’s most significant major projects programmes—defining Yorkshire’s water future.

Yorkshire Water is delivering a £2.5bn Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) portfolio across four transformational infrastructure projects that ensure long-term water resilience for millions of customers.

The DPC Engineering Design Manager will ensure the projects’ engineering solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, and aligned with new client-side delivery models.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering strategy & assurance across DPC projects
  • Develop outcome-based market specifications for optimal project delivery
  • Work alongside engineering, commercial, procurement, and regulatory teams to shape projects from initial concept to market
  • Represent Yorkshire Water as a champion of technical rigor & value optimisation
  • Influence customer-centric long-term outcomes
  • Confidently engage with Ofwat, RAPID, and senior stakeholders
  • Advocate for innovation, quality, risk management, and operational excellence

Requirements

An experienced engineering leader with proven track record in:

  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent)
  • Major infrastructure/procurement design (water treatment/transfers preference)
  • Leading multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Delivering under tight deadlines with compelling risks, ensuring format/quality assurance
  • Evidence of strategic influence (client-side, consultant, or Tier 1 ecosystem)
  • Full UK driving licence
