Drafter (Full-Time, On-Site) – Campbell and Son Roofing

The Role
This is a full-time, on-site Drafter position based in Inverness. The successful candidate will create detailed technical drawings and plans for roofing and building envelope projects using CAD software and internal company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear, accurate CAD drawings to align with project specifications and deadlines
- Interpret architectural and structural plans, collaborating with engineers, project managers, and site teams to clarify requirements
- Revise and update drawings based on feedback from the field or project changes
- Ensure drawings comply with UK/Scottish building regulations and safety standards
- Assist with material take-offs and project cost estimates
- Work with colleagues to optimise drawing templates and workflows, improving project efficiency
- Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the build lifecycle

Requirements
- Proven CAD drafting experience in construction or roofing—ability to produce precise technical plans is essential
- Solid understanding of building envelope systems, roofing components, and construction principles
- Expertise in reading and interpreting architectural/structural plans, specifications, and technical documentation
- Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to handle multiple drawing revisions under tight deadlines
- Effective communication for collaborating with project teams, engineers, and clients
- Technical qualification (e.g., drafting, architectural technology, construction) or equivalent industry experience
- Familiarity with standard office documentation tools (e.g., spreadsheets, file systems) and email protocols
- Bonus considerations: Experience in roofing/construction, knowledge of UK Scottish building regulations, and familiarity with health & safety standards
