Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Draftsperson role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The Draftsperson will prepare detailed technical drawings and fabrication plans for balconies, balustrades, walkways, stairs, glass handrails, and related architectural metalwork. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design concepts and specifications, producing accurate CAD drawings, and coordinating with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are feasible and compliant with relevant standards. The role involves updating and revising drawings as projects progress, maintaining drawing records and documentation, and supporting the smooth transition from design to manufacturing and installation. The Draftsperson will also assist in resolving design issues on-site as needed and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting processes.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in computer-aided design (CAD) software suitable for architectural and structural metalwork drafting, and the ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings.
- Knowledge of architectural metalwork, structural fabrication, and construction detailing, particularly for balconies, balustrades, stairs, and handrail systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, building plans, and technical specifications, with attention to accuracy, measurements, and tolerances.
- Understanding of relevant building regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices related to metal fabrication and installation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, project managers, fabrication staff, and installation teams.
- Strong organizational skills, including document control, version management of drawings, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in drafting, engineering, or architectural technology; experience in metal fabrication or construction environments is highly beneficial.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to visit sites when needed to clarify design requirements or support installation activities.
