Drainage Assistant – Leeds Depot

Responsibilities

  • Operate specialist drainage equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with customers professionally, providing updates and resolving queries.
  • Identify and resolve common drainage issues, including:
    • Blockages
    • Pipe defects
    • Root ingress
    • Infiltration
  • Use high-pressure water jetting systems to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipes.
  • Assist with waste removal to maintain wastewater system efficiency.
  • Conduct routine vehicle/equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.
  • Support CCTV survey teams in inspecting underground assets.
  • Respond to emergency callouts, including flooding and urgent drainage repairs.
  • Complete work documentation, including job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (with guidance).

Requirements

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence (maximum of 6 penalty points).
  • Valid CSCS card (or commitment to obtain).
  • Practical, hands-on mindset and keen interest in drainage/waste management.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems.
