Drainage Engineer
Location: Ilford Salary: £37,220 – £41,810 (depending on experience) + £1,500 guaranteed bonus in your first year Hours: Average 40 hours per week (including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays)
About the Role
Join HomeServe as a Drainage Engineer and play a vital role in keeping our customers’ homes running smoothly. This is a field-based role where no two days are the same.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Drainage Engineer, you’ll work directly in customers’ homes to diagnose and resolve drainage issues. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Clearing blockages using high-pressure water jetting (HPWJ) equipment
- Investigating drainage problems and identifying root causes
- Carrying out repairs to domestic drainage systems
- Managing jobs independently while delivering excellent customer service
- Representing HomeServe in customers’ homes with professionalism and care

What You’ll Need
The following are essential for this role:
- Valid HPWJ (High Pressure Water Jetting) ticket
- Experience working in drainage
- Full UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and solve problems on site
- A positive, proactive approach to your work

- Week 1: Classroom-based induction (Monday to Friday at our Walsall Head Office)
- Week 2: On-the-job training alongside an experienced HomeServe Drainage Engineer
