We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water. We are recruiting for a number of Drainage Engineers to work in 2-person teams across Sussex on our Patching and Lining team. This represents a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with Lanes Group.

Position: Drainage Engineer – Patching and Lining
- Location: Budds Farm WTW, Havant, Hampshire
- Job Type: Permanent, full-time
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week
- Salary: £16.00 – £18.00 per hour (OTE £41,700 – £46,900 per annum), depending on experience

About The Role
Expansion at Lanes Group has opened new opportunities within our Utility Division, delivering innovative solutions to waste-water network and drainage challenges for Southern Water.
Duties include:
- Collaborating in 2-person teams across residential sites nationwide using specially equipped vans.
- Repairing and maintaining drainage systems through installation of patch liners, ensuring first-time-fix results for sewer and drain issues.
- Utilising Picote systems for aggressive removal of scale, roots, and hardened obstructions beyond high-pressure jetting capability.
- Conducting drainage network surveys and assessing pipe conditions, producing high-quality reports using advanced survey tools.
- Accurate job report documentation on specialist systems and platforms.
- Providing exceptional customer service at every site visit.
- Upholding strict Health & Safety standards, including PPE compliance and safe site setups.
- Ensuring vehicle and equipment supplies remain fully stocked.
- Operating on-site certification platforms (VISTEC and Salesforce) for client progress updates.
- Completing tasks unsupervised across all weather conditions with full PPE and lone-worker protocols.
- Dynamic risk-assessing site conditions and access before commencing work.
- Offering peer support to colleagues.
- Conducting pre- and post-use inspections of tools and equipment, reporting defects.
- Conducting risk assessments with a maturity-based approach.
- Adhering to all Lanes Group policies.

Candidate Profile:
- Customer-focused attitude with diligence in diagnosing and resolving drainage issues promptly.
- Ability to provide turnkey solutions responsive to customer needs.
Ideal Candidate Qualities
The ideal candidate will be hard-working, safety-conscious, and compliant with all company regulations. Formal training will be provided in high-pressure jetting equipment and PPE standards. While prior experience is beneficial, experience is not mandatory.
- Confined Space Entry (AP2) training or equivalent drainage certifications (e.g., NRSWA, OS19X) are advantageous but not essential.
