At FM Conway, our Drainage Operatives play a vital role in protecting communities, preventing flooding and keeping the UK's essential infrastructure running safely every day.
We're looking for motivated Drainage Operatives to join our growing Water and Drainage Management team. Working alongside an experienced HGV Driver as part of a supportive two-person crew, you'll learn specialist skills, work with industry-leading equipment and be part of a team where no two days are ever the same. Whether you're carrying out planned drainage maintenance or responding to emergency callouts, you'll finish every shift knowing you've made a real difference. Please note the working hours for this role will be 6am to 4pm.
Much of your work will involve cyclical gully maintenance, giving you the opportunity to build experience while working as part of a consistent programme of works. You'll also have the opportunity to earn performance-related bonuses on eligible cyclical gully cleaning contracts, rewarding high-quality work and productivity.

As one of our Drainage Operatives, you will:
- Support HGV Drainage Engineers with drainage maintenance and repair work.
- Assist with High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) and CCTV drainage surveys.
- Carry out drainage cleaning, investigations and planned maintenance.
- Respond to emergency and reactive drainage callouts.
- Operate our GIS Trimble system in line with company procedures.
- Work safely as part of a close-knit team using specialist vehicles and equipment.
You'll ideally have:
- Someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in delivering a great service and thrives as part of a close-knit team.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- A positive, reliable attitude.
- Previous drainage experience is beneficial but isn't essential.
- Experience in High Pressure Water Jetting, Street Works or Confined Space working would be advantageous.
- If you're willing to learn and bring the right mindset, we'll provide the training and support you need to build a successful career with FM Conway, including the opportunity to complete our HGV Apprenticeship Programme after successfully passing your probation.
