Summary
The Drayman / Collection Driver is responsible for the collection and return of empty kegs and casks from pubs, bars, restaurants, and other hospitality venues. The role is customer-facing, involving manual handling, and accurate tracking of returned containers. The Drayman represents the company professionally at all collection points and plays a key role in asset recovery and circulation.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Collect/deliver kegs and casks from pubs, bars, restaurants, and hospitality customers
- Safely load and secure empties onto the vehicle, following manual-handling and health & safety procedures
- Follow efficient collection routes to maximise daily pickups
- Ensure accurate counting and recording of collected kegs and casks
- Obtain customer confirmations where required and complete return documentation
- Transport empties back to the brewery, depot, or keg-management facility
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness
- Act as a professional representative of the company when interacting with customers
- Support yard, warehouse, or brewery operations as required (e.g. unloading empties, basic sorting)
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full UK driving license (Category B)
- Experience in drayman work, multi-drop collection, or logistics preferred
- Strong attention to detail, particularly for counting and asset tracking
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy daily route
- Forklift license is desirable but not essential
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling beer kegs and casks, weighing between 10 – 65kg
- Frequent loading/unloading at multiple delivery points
- Pick-ups from cellars, basements, tight spaces, and uneven surfaces
- Often requires navigating stairs, ramps, and confined spaces
- Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods
- Ability to climb in and out of delivery vehicle regularly
- Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions
- Comply with UK road traffic laws and driver hours regulations (where applicable)
- Report vehicle defects, damaged kegs, or site issues promptly
- Full-time, commonly Monday–Friday, may be required to work weekends/public holidays
- Early start times typical
- Job-and-finish or scheduled routes depending on operation
- Personal protective equipment is required when on the production floor to include: steel toe boots, hearing protection and eye protection. No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories are allowed.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.
Salary Range: £32,250 - £36,400, plus bonus
Kegstar offers a competitive compensation package to include pension, bonus, private healthcare and 25 days annual leave entitlement
