About The Role
At Balfour Beatty, we're shaping the future of the UK's energy infrastructure. As part of our continued growth within the Power Transmission & Distribution business, we are looking to recruit a Driver 1 (HGV Driver - OHL) to support demand across our National Resource OHL team. This role offers the opportunity to work on major overhead line projects throughout the UK, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of materials, plant and equipment to site.
What you'll be doing
As a Driver 1, you will play a key role in supporting our operational teams by ensuring the timely and safe transportation of materials, specialist plant, tools and equipment to overhead line construction and maintenance projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Planning delivery schedules alongside operational teams.
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects.
- Ensuring loads are secured safely and vehicles operate within legal weight limits.
- Complying with all driver hours regulations and tachograph requirements.
- Loading and unloading vehicles, including the use of lorry-mounted cranes where applicable.
- Completing delivery documentation and maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
- Supporting site teams and maintaining communication with supervisors and project teams.
- Following all health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.

Who we're looking for
Essential
- Full clean driving licence.
- Current DCPC qualification.
- HGV Class 1 and/or Class 2 licence.
- Valid medical certification.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience working on construction projects.
- Knowledge of the Power industry.
- Plant tickets.
- Telehandler ticket.
- OHL authorisations.
- Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
