Driver – Babcock
Location: Camberley, Surrey
Role Type: Full-time / Permanent
Salary: £13.57–£15.51 per hour (depending on licences held) + Benefits

At Babcock, we shape safety and security through teamwork. If you join us as a Driver, you’ll support the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) contract in a role that’s as essential as it is varied.
The role
Unlike a typical driving role, yours will be critical to national defence training. You’ll:
- Drive personnel and equipment to/from exercises and military duties
- Assist with departmental admin and site store delivery
- Work up to 1.5 hours from site, including manual tasks (e.g., lifting, using tools)
- Operate a range of vehicles (PSV, LGV fleets)
- Conduct pre-, during-, and post-use vehicle checks
Working arrangements: Monday-Thursday: 08:00–16:30 Friday: 08:00–16:00 (37-hour week) Overtime may be available. Flexibility in start times may be required.
Key responsibilities
- Transport eligible personnel and equipment for military training
- Manage vehicle maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Support inventory management and cross-site deliveries
- Complete roadworthiness checks, load restraints, and safety assessments
Essential qualifications & experience
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category C minimum) – Higher salary for C+E or D
- Proven experience maintaining vehicle roadworthiness
- Strong knowledge of Driver’s Hours Regulations (JSP800 Vol 5 or EU rules)
- Load restraint and load safety expertise
