Position Purpose
The Transportation Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely movement of clinical and industrial waste while upholding all legal compliance standards, including the EU Working Time Directive (EU hours) and ADR Transportation Regulations.
As part of the transportation team, you’ll deliver excellent customer service while adhering to strict regulatory requirements. With a shift pattern of any 5-days from 7, including legal holidays when necessary, you will**:
- Provide proactive support to Service Managers and Service Coordinators
- Maintain legal compliance in transport operations
Key Job Activities
Core Responsibilities
- Execute daily schedules within agreed routes and timelines
- Complete legislative and corporate documentation, including:
- Driver’s hours records
- EU Working Time Directive (EUWTD) compliance documentation
- Adhere to all:
- Road Traffic Act requirements
- Digital Tachograph regulations
- Vehicle weight and speed limits
- ADR/Hazardous Waste Transportation Regulations
- Follow Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Customer & Team Engagement
- Act as a customer contact at delivery points, maintaining a polite, courteous, and professional demeanour
- Attend training, work instructions, and team meetings as required
- Handle ad-hoc tasks with a flexible and responsive approach
- Promptly report accidents, incidents, and incomplete documentation
Vehicle & Safety Compliance
- Conduct pre-use vehicle checks, reporting any defects via appropriate documentation
- Report incidents and file records in a timely manner
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- (Note: No higher education level required beyond basic schooling.)
Experience
- Preferred: Past driving experience
- Required:
- LGV Class 1 Driving Licence
- Full Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Digi Card (digital tachograph)
- Preferred: Certified ADR Training for Hazardous Waste Transport

Certifications & Licences
- Mandatory:
- LGV Class 1 licence with C+E entitlements
- Full Driver CPC + Digi Card
- Strongly preferred: ADR certification covering packages 6.1 and 6.2 for hazardous materials
