Driver & Warehouse Operative

Driver & Warehouse Operative

Location: Swindon

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £26,227.50 per year

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

This role involves working within the Warehouse & Logistics department, supporting Head Office, clients, and field-based staff. The warehouse and logistics function manages the receipt, storage, and despatch of client stock. The combination of warehouse operations and logistics driving responsibilities includes the delivery of high-value goods to main city locations.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Logistics & Delivery

  • Deliver high-value goods safely and professionally to various locations, ensuring the highest level of customer service.
  • Carry out vehicle health and safety checks before and after deliveries.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies during deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle inspections.
  • Adjust working hours and shifts according to delivery schedules, including early morning shifts and overnight stays when required.
  • Maintain the vehicle's appearance, ensuring it is clean and presentable.

Warehouse Operations

  • Prioritise and process despatch requests from internal managers and clients efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Prepare and package stock for despatch in line with agreed timelines.
  • Operate Reach and Counterbalance forklifts as required for warehouse operations.
  • Carry out all warehouse operations safely, ensuring quality and accuracy of work.
  • Assist with Goods Inwards, Storage, Inventory Control, and general housekeeping within the warehouse.
  • Create and manage delivery manifests to track and organise despatches.
  • Respond to emails promptly and professionally, providing support and updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate with clients professionally to maintain high levels of customer service when handling queries or issues.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in logistics, delivery, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience operating Reach and Counterbalance forklifts (a valid forklift licence is advantageous).
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems or similar bespoke software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Competency in the use of email and the internet.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to plan and prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Previous delivery experience preferred but not essential.
