Dual Fuel Commercial Metering Engineer
Commercial Metering Engineers (Dual Fuel) – Elite & Non-Elite Roles
Department & Location
- Department: YUS - FT13 – General Engineers
- Location: Worcester & surrounding areas (Postcodes: DY1, DY10, DY11, DY12, DY13, DY14, DY2–DY9, SY8, WR1, WR2–WR15, WV15–WV99)
- Working Hours: 40 hours (Mon–Fri, 8:00am–5:00pm)
- Shift Pattern (Rotating): Each engineer participates in all three shifts to ensure 24/7 operational coverage:
- 6:00am–3:00pm
- 8:00am–5:00pm (Primary shift)
- 11:00am–7:00pm
About the Role
We’re seeking dual fuel (gas + electricity) commercial metering engineers with two clear career pathways:
1. Elite Engineers ✨
- Full dual fuel metering responsibilities.
- Additional Warrant Officer duties (management of court-appointed orders).
- Involvement in friendly debt resolution visits.
- Assists as promotional ambassador for the role (represented on cluster calls).
2. Non-Elite (Dual Fuel Only)
- Technical metering tasks only (no warrant/work or debt-related work).
- Focused on installations, exchanges, repairs, and maintenance of dual fuel systems.
Key Responsibilities (For All Roles)
Duties include:
- Safe and compliant installation, inspection, repositioning, removal and maintenance of:
- Gas + electricity meters.
- CT systems.
- MED1 communication systems.
- Apply specialist expertise in Three-Phase and Medium Pressure metering where applicable.
- Dedicated back-office support for Reprieve visits (non-fault visits requested by Customers).
- Dedicated back-office support for Warrant matters (considered in accordance with Company Procedure).
- Customer engagement – friendly, professional interactions with business and domestic customers.
- HSE adherence – full compliance with health and safety regulations.
Elite Only Add-Ons
- Warrant Officer role:
- Attend prizes ordered at a Civil Court (having first attended Preliminary Proceedings validated).
- Isolated visits (no back-office support), except when visiting domestic customers in residential areas.
- Non-Elite Exemptions:
- No warrant visit responsibilities.
- No debt collection visits.

What We Need From You
Technical Skills & Commitment:
- "Can-do" attitude – willingness to adapt and tackle new challenges.
- Safe working practices – sign off on tasks in line with internal policies and regulations.
- Professionalism with customers and colleagues.
- Flexibility to rotate shifts and ensure 24-hour coverage.
Specific Expertise (Elite Preference):
- Sound understanding of three-phase technology.
- Experience with medium pressure and communication systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Smart Metering (Dual Fuel) experience.
- Industry certifications:
- CMA1/CCN1
- MET1 (or equivalent)
- Certificate in Power (Scientific Logic or equivalent, or notably higher MPP/IPEM aligned.
- Full vehicle and PPE essential.
Desirable but Advantageous:
- MET4 (small commercial metering)
- Knowledge of Current Transformers (CT)
- Three-Phase full cycle testing
- Medium Pressure (REGT1) experience
Legal & procedural requirements:
- Valid UK driving licence.
- DBS check.
- Colour vision suitable for meter tests.
