Dual Service Operative
Security and Cleaning Operator – Viking Shopping Centre
Location: Viking Shopping Centre
Salary & Contract: £13.25 per hour 40 hours per week (5 days), rotating day/night shifts as per rotaschedule
Job Overview and Purpose
Mantaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment within the shopping centre by:
- Patrolling and monitoring the premises to ensure a clean, secure experience for customers and employees
- Performing day-to-day cleaning, housekeeping, and supervision duties
- Supporting the daily operations of the Centre
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Facilities Maintenance
- Ensure the highest cleaning standards are maintained, providing a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Oversee efficient recycling and waste management systems.
- Maintain all welfare facilities (toilets, break areas) in good working order.
- Liaise with all colleagues to facilitate the smooth running of operations.
Security and Compliance
- Patrol and inspect all site areas:
- Streets, carparks, service roads, and public access points (including back-of-house areas).
- Moniotor and clean carparks using a mechanical sweeper and manual brushing (edges/gutters).
- Enforce Health & Safety regulations, including checks and compliance reporting as required by the Facilities Manager & Centre Manager.
- Communicate and implement Health & Safety practices in line with company guidelines.
- Prevent, detect, and investigate:
- Disturbances, offences, signs of intrusion, or unauthorised activity.
- Ensure doors, gates and access control are secure within restricted areas.
- Accurately report all incidents (e.g. accidents, property damage, antisocialbehaviour) in writing, including public safety concerns.
- Provide evidential testimony in court or tribunals where required.

Surveillance and Incident Management
- Operate CCTV systems (including monitoring and downloading recorded footage).
- Manage multiple real-time feeds: CCTV, bodycams and radio communications.
- Handle antisocial behaviour, including evicting individuals intoxicated by alcohol or drugs from the Centre.
- Respond to emergencies with coordination:
- Liaising with emergency services (fire, ambulance, police).
- Directing traffic, emergency vehicles, and pedestrians as needed.
Administration and Operational Duties
- Verify that all contractors hold valid permits before commencing work.
- Perform Reception duties (e.g. answering phones, logging visitors, numericalguides).
- Test and maintain fire alarm systems (including call-out activation and panel responsiveness).
- Clear spillages and litter promptly across the mall and shared areas.
Safety & Additional Tasks
- Adhere to Health & Safety legislation, prioritising employee and visitor welfare.
- Undertake miscellaneous operational tasks as deemed necessary.

Qualifications
- Current SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
