Dual Site Manager - 8 month temporary contract
CRITICAL – Store Manager (Temporary) – Brighton
We are looking for an amazing temporary Store Manager to lead our excellent teams at our Brighton stores, covering the North Road and Ship Street locations!
About the Role
As a Store Manager at Lucy & Yak, your role is to lead, manage, and drive the success of your store by motivating and inspiring your team while building a strong, unified community. You will always lead by example, creating outstanding brand experiences and capitalising on commercial opportunities. This includes training, developing and supporting your team to excel in all areas—from daily operations to meeting store Key Performance Indicators.
As part of this role, you will ensure your store always embodies Lucy & Yak’s ethics and core values in everything from visual merchandising to customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provide strong leadership to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Motivate and inspire your team to achieve both personal and collective goals.
- Deliver timely feedback (both positive and constructive) to enhance performance.
- Empower your Assistant Manager to deliver constructive feedback too.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of your team to ensure high performance.
- Act as a role model, embodying Lucy & Yak’s ethos in every aspect of your work.
Customer-Centric Approach
- Develop deep expertise on Lucy & Yak, covering product details, sizing, sustainability, and brand values.
- Foster a customer-focused culture—every interaction should go above expectations while creating memorable experiences.
- Act as the final point of escalation for all customer queries and issues within the store, resolving them promptly while prioritising satisfaction.

Sales & Performance
- Drive your team to meet sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) through training, incentives, and strategy collaboration with your Assistant Manager.
- Work on store revenue strategies to enhance the customer experience and drive sales growth.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day retail operations, including staffing, sales, visual merchandising, and administration.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times—responsible for escalating any issues as required.
- Create and manage staff rotas, including leave requests, to ensure adequate shop floor coverage.
- Maintain high standards in visual merchandising, ensuring the store remains vibrant, colourful, and accessible—a true reflection of the brand.
- Attend weekly and quarterly management meetings.
Stock Management
- Oversee effective stock management, working alongside merchandising and warehouse teams to optimise inventory and stock levels.
- Minimise stock discrepancies and ensure high-demand products remain consistently available.
- Implement robust stock management procedures, including stockroom organisation, line counting, and stock takes.
Financial Management
- Analyse and interpret performance data to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Manage the store’s budget for resources, equipment, and overtime, ensuring no financial overruns.
Marketing, Events & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with the Head of Retail to execute marketing strategies in-store (events, promotions, windows, layouts).
- Develop exciting in-store content and manage your store’s social media platforms.
- Organise, staff, and run collaborative events in your store to drive engagement.

Requirements
- Previous management experience (at least 2 years) in a customer-facing role—essential.
- Friendly and approachable—your passion and warmth should inspire and attract customers.
- Passion for our brand—you’re excited about Lucy & Yak’s mission, products, and values.
- A commitment to excellence—commitment to customer satisfaction goes without saying.
- Strong leadership skills—excellent at motivating, developing and coaching teams to achieve goals.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to drive sales and meet targets.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
- Good IT skills—comfortable using Word, Excel, social media tools, and POS systems.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience, work independently, and adapt quickly to resolve issues.**
- Experience in mid to long-term planning would be beneficial.
- Previous fashion retail experience is highly preferred but not mandatory.
Temporary Details
- Salary based on experience
- Role based in Brighton, covering both North Road and Ship Street stores.
- 37.5 hours per week
- Temporary contract for 8 months
