Dual Site Manager - 8 month temporary contract

Temporary Store Manager – Brighton

As a Store Manager at Lucy & Yak, you’ll lead both the North Road and Ship Street stores, driving the success of our Brighton teams. We're looking for someone inspired to bring our brand to life through outstanding performance, exceptional teamwork, and vibrant community engagement.

About the Role

Your mission is to lead with style—motivating your team to deliver elevated brand experiences and exceeding KPIs while upholding Lucy & Yak’s core values. You’ll act as a role model, ensuring every interaction—from visual merchandising to customer service—embodies our unique ethos.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide strong leadership and maintain a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Give immediate, constructive feedback to motivate and develop team performance.
  • Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing team that reflects the Lucy & Yak ethos.
  • Be the embodiment of our brand identity, to inspire others in both approach and outcomes.

Customer-Centric Approach

  • Become a problem-solving expert—coordinating customer care, safeguarding ethical standards, and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Foster customer obsession by staying immersed in our products, sizing options, sustainability mission, and brand messaging.
  • Create memorable experiences by leaving a lasting impression on every shopper.

Sales Growth

  • Drive sales targets by implementing smarter store strategies, team incentives, and continuous training.
  • Collaborate with your Assistant Manager to boost KPIs and optimise the customer journey.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations: staffing, visual merchandising, safety, and store cleanliness.
  • Manage staff schedules, leave requests, and compliance with UK retail regulations.
  • Maintain a sparkling storefront that’s both visually stunning and accessible for customers.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Analyse KPIs and ensure budgetary discipline for resources, overtime, and store maintenance.
  • Work with teams on stock efficiency, line counts, and stockroom organisation.
  • Master Excel and financial reporting to drive informed decisions.

Marketing, Events & Engagement

  • Implement retail marketing strategies, including events, promotions, and in-store campaigns.
  • Own your store’s social media presence, curating engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Coordinate the venue and staffing of collaboration events.

What We’re Looking For

You’re the ideal candidate if you:

  • Have at least 2 years of management experience in a customer-facing retail environment (essential).
  • Radiate approachability—your passion for reception makes a difference!
  • Share our brand’s excitement for its mission, values, and product range.
  • Operate at the excellent level—exceeding expectations in service and store execution.
  • Lead effectively—coaching, mentoring, and developing your team toward success.
  • Communicate openly and genuinely on both personal and professional levels.

Essential Skills & Qualities ✔ Outstanding team management and leadership ✔ Drive—achieving sales targets and exceeding objectives ✔ Strong grasp of social media platforms, particularly Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. ✔ Proficient in Microsoft Office, cloud-based till systems, and retail-specific software. ✔ Problem-solver—think quickly on your feet when issues arise.

Nice-to-Have

  • Mid-to-long-term planning experience
  • Formal qualifications in Fashion Retail (though passion is more important!)

The Fine Print

This is a 37.5-hour-per-week temporary contract covering 8 months, based in Brighton with coverage of the North Road and Ship Street stores. Starting roles and rates are salary-based on experience.

Internal Applicants: Your existing managers will serve as references during the recruitment process.
