Teaching Assistant Level 2 & Higher Level Teaching Assistant – PE Instructor
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £16,423.57 to £17,073.98 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per year (15 hours as a Teaching Assistant, including PPA time, and 12.5 hours as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant/PE Instructor), working 39 weeks per year.
Starting Date: 1 September 2026
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile individual to join Loddington CE Primary School in a combined role of Teaching Assistant and PE Instructor. This position offers the unique opportunity to:
- Support teaching and learning in the classroom (9:00am–12:00pm)
- Deliver high-quality PE lessons and physical activities (1:00pm–3:30pm)

Key Responsibilities
An ideal candidate will:
- Be enthusiastic, approachable, and friendly, ensuring all children feel safe, happy, and motivated to learn
- Maintain a supportive, orderly, and purposeful learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers to manage pupil behaviour and confidently apply a respectful and understanding approach to challenging behaviour, aligning with our school’s Behaviour Policy
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and support for, our Christian values and school ethos
- Build respectful, empathetic relationships with children while adhering to the school’s Code of Conduct and confidentiality guidelines
- Commit to Continued Professional Development (CPD), including:
- First Aid training
- Annual Safeguarding/Child Protection training
- Hold a firm commitment to child protection and safeguarding, inclusive of their welfare both at home and in the school setting

Desirable: Experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or as a PE lead.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant experience base (desirable for HLTA candidates)
- Strong foundation in physical education or coaching
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and collaborative school environment
- Alignment with the Church of England ethos and values
- Willingness to comply with DBS clearance checks and safeguarding guidelines
- A dedication to ongoing professional growth and training
