Duty Manager – Job Opportunity at Abingdon School
Location: Park Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1DE
Job Type: Full time, Part time, Evening and Weekend roles
Salary: £27,772 – £29,660 (annual) plus an annual retention bonus of £500 (full-time salary range depending on skills and experience)
About Abingdon School
The Abbey Schools Foundation comprises:

Abingdon School: A leading independent day and boarding school with over 1,000 pupils (aged 11–18). Currently a boys’ school but becoming co-educational from September 2026.

Abingdon Prep School: A vibrant, warm, co-educational day preparatory school with around 200 pupils (aged 4–13). Both schools are located in extensive grounds:
- Senior School: Park Road, Abingdon (Thameside, near Oxford).
- Prep School: Frilford (a few miles from Abingdon).
Duty Manager – The Role
We seek enthusiastic, motivated, and committed candidates to join our team managing sports and leisure facilities at Tilsley Park.
Ideal applicants may work:
- Full-time or part-time (variable shifts including evenings and weekends).
- Purely in evening/Saturday/Sunday shifts.

Key Responsibilities (Hands-On & Varied!)
- Safely open, prep, and close facilities on time.
- Deliver exceptional customer service:
- Handle enquiries and complaints professionally.
- Liaise directly with customers.
- Setup and teardown of venues/equipment for:
- Classes.
- Community bookings.
- Events.
- Carry out daily safety and cleanliness checks.
- Control payments via EPOS, manage stock and cash reconciling.
- Work as a lifeguard/bar staff if required – ensuring compliance.
- Lead health and safety (e.g., risk assessments, incident reporting).
- Support the management team with:
- Administrative tasks.
- Booking system operations.
What We Look For (You!)
✔ Relevant experience in customer service or facility management. ✔ Preferred: Qualifications or experience in sports/leisure sector.
Key traits:
- Positive, flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude.
- A welcoming, professional, and trustworthy demeanour.
- Strong customer service and IT skills.
- Exceptional administrative competency (attention to detail, fluent English).
- Willing to:
- Apply for a Personal Licence (if required).
- Upskill through training.
