Leisure Centre Duty Manager

Location: Fox Hollies Leisure Centre, Birmingham B27 7NS

Salary: £30,972.94 per annum plus excellent benefits

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible to include earlies, lates, and weekends, 6am–10.30pm).

As the Leisure Centre Duty Manager in Fox Hollies, you’ll ensure our leisure services run smoothly so communities can access safe, accessible, and welcoming spaces to stay active.

You’ll play a key role in shaping positive experiences for visitors—covering:

  • Ensuring smooth, safe operations.
  • Supporting colleagues across the facility.
  • Empowering people to feel confident, supported, and inspired to improve their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be entrusted with:

  • Facility management: Acting as a key holder, opening and closing the centre.
  • Operational leadership: Leading day-to-day running to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Team support: Guiding staff in reception, wet-side, and dry-side areas.
  • Shift coordination: Allocating tasks, overseeing operations, and ensuring proper colleague cover.
  • Customer care: Resolving enquiries, handling feedback, and managing complaints professionally.
  • Health & safety compliance:
    • Conducting and recording routine checks.
    • Responding to issues promptly and following Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Incident response: Handling incidents in line with company guidelines.

Job Requirements

This role is ideal for candidates with:

  • Experience in leisure, fitness, or a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong swimming ability and a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
  • Supervisory experience in fast-paced settings, supporting or leading teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills with a flexible, reliable approach to shift work.

  • An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role (including spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and police records).
  • You’ll also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to ensure support is available for you in the role.
