About the Role
This is a dynamic and rewarding position as Duty Manager, requiring you to wear many hats. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and leading a team – Recruiting, training, and motivating staff.
- Customer service excellence – Addressing member concerns and ensuring exceptional service.
- Growth and operations – Driving membership sales, reporting activities, and attending meetings.
- Representation – Acting as a brand ambassador for Places Leisure and leading the efficient daily operation of the facility.
You’ll need a flexible mindset, with willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and delegate tasks to team members effectively.
- Deliver exceptional customer service across all member interactions.
- Monitor health and wellbeing services to improve member satisfaction.
- Collaborate with senior team members to optimise operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Represent the organisation at public events and community engagements.

About You
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
- Proven management experience — Preferably in a leisure or customer-facing environment, where you’ve successfully supervised teams.
- First aid experience — This role requires registration as a first aider and previous experience will be highly valued.
- Strong leadership abilities — Demonstrated ability to motivate, resolve conflicts, and drive excellence.
- Fluency in customer service — Experience handling complaints professionally and proactively.
- Commitment to personal development — Willingness to take on challenges and improve continuously.
- A flexible attitude — Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and varied work hours.
Qualifications & Essentials
- Essential Qualification: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
- Desirable: Previous experience in leucasure facilities, management roles, or supervisory leadership.
