Duty Manager – Job Description
LOCATION: TOGETHER, 88 Wood Street, London EC2V 7QR
SALARY: £32,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
TOGETHER is a human-first space designed for how people come together. Built on hospitality, clarity and care, we create the conditions for connection to happen properly. Calm on the surface. Rigorous underneath.
Operations are what make the experience feel effortless. We're now looking for a Duty Manager to ensure conferences, meetings, exhibitions and corporate events are planned, coordinated and delivered with consistency, care and control.
THE ROLE
As Duty Manager, you'll be responsible for the operational backbone of events. You'll act as the operational lead during live events, oversee logistics and food and beverage delivery, lead and support the operations team, and act as a steady point of contact for clients and partners. This role suits someone who thrives on organisation, anticipates needs early, and ensures everything runs smoothly without drawing attention to itself.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the operational lead during conferences, meetings, exhibitions and corporate events, overseeing planning and delivery to ensure consistency and quality throughout
- Ensure event spaces are set up to client requirements, coordinating room setups, AV and delegate services
- Oversee catering and hospitality operations, ensuring food quality, presentation, hygiene and allergen compliance
- Manage, mentor and support event coordinators and operations staff, leading team briefings and allocating duties
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and service partners
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and event organisers, ensuring their requirements are clearly understood and delivered, and supporting speakers on the day
- Manage all event logistics including catering, AV, transport, staffing and on-site support
- Ensure all events comply with health & safety regulations and relevant industry standards
- Monitor event delivery in real time, resolving operational issues calmly and managing service recovery effectively
- Review event performance and client feedback to improve future operations and service standards

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
