Carlisle Support Services is working with Somerset House, our prestigious new client in Central London. Somerset House is one of the capital’s most iconic cultural destinations, home to world-class events, creative businesses, and vibrant public spaces. We’re looking for motivated, approachable, and dependable individuals to join our team as a Duty Security Manager. Shift Pattern: 4 Days On/4 off followed by 4 Nights on and 4 Days off - 07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00
The Duty Security Manager will play a critical role in leading and developing the security team to deliver safe, effective, and customer-focused operations across the estate. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to manage incidents and operations in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

Previous experience managing a team within a security environment is essential. Just as important is your enthusiasm and willingness to develop. We’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed and grow within Carlisle.
Your Core Responsibilities Will Include
Daily Security Operations & Leadership
- Lead and oversee daily security operations, ensuring a professional and responsive service.
- Provide visible leadership across the estate, supporting officers and maintaining high standards.
- Lead shift briefings and debriefs, ensuring teams are fully informed of site activity.
- Manage team performance and development.
- Complete end-of-shift handovers and reports.
- Work closely with the Control Room team.
- Ensure effective deployment and operational readiness of all staff.
- Carry out and manage weekly compliance checks, identifying and resolving risks.
- Act as deputy to the Security Operations Manager when required.
- Oversee lock and unlock procedures in line with site requirements.

Emergency Response & Incident Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for all incidents and emergencies.
- Lead and coordinate responses, ensuring effective communication and escalation.
- Manage incident and crime scenes, preserving evidence and maintaining records.
- Ensure rapid and compliant responses to alarms and threats.
- Conduct post-incident reviews, capturing key findings and improvements.
- Support investigations, ensuring all evidence is correctly recorded and secured.
Security Policy & Procedure Implementation
- Support the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and operational standards.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain service excellence and compliance.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain a professional and approachable presence for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Ensure exceptional service aligned with the Somerset House Respect Policy.
- Respond promptly to concerns, creating a safe and supportive environment.
Security Technology & Compliance
- Support ongoing staff training in line with site requirements.
- Stay up to date with security technology and best practice to enhance operations.

Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Security Manager, Duty Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of security operations, emergency response, and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Experience managing team performance and driving high standards.
- A professional, approachable manner with strong customer service skills.
