Job Title: Erasmus+ Senior Inclusion Manager
Pay Band: Grade 8 Salary: £38,820 gross per annum plus £3,300 per annum London Market Allowance (London area only) Contract Duration: 2-Year Fixed Term Contract (possibility of extension) Location: Any Location within the UK

The Department for Education has announced that the British Council will take on the role of National Agency for Erasmus+. Under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the UK will rejoin the Erasmus+ scheme in 2027.
The British Council has a long-standing commitment to supporting international exchange, previously leading as a lead partner in the Erasmus+ UK National Agency (2014–2020). In that role, Erasmus+ contributed significantly to UK’s cultural relations through:
- Funding 8,091 projects
- Engaging 583,757 UK participants
- Awarding around €1.1 billion to UK organisations
About the Role
We are seeking an Erasmus+ Senior Inclusion Manager to develop and embed an Inclusion and Diversity strategy for Erasmus+, ensuring inclusive practices are central to programme delivery.
Role Purpose
The Erasmus+ Senior Inclusion Manager will:
- Support and drive the Inclusion and Diversity strategy, ensuring it is embedded across all programme activities.
- Provide expert guidance to applicants, beneficiaries, and stakeholders on inclusion, equity, and anti-racism across the Education, Training, Youth, and Sports sectors.
- Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote inclusive participation.
- Design and deliver training, capacity-building, and advocacy to drive meaningful inclusion in operational practices.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of inclusion efforts, championing best practices to increase participation from underrepresented groups.

Main Responsibilities
Strategic Delivery & Leadership
- Lead the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and its annual action plans, ensuring alignment with UK and EU priorities.
- Oversee and develop an Inclusion Manager, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the British Council and Erasmus+ National Agency at sector events, policy forums, and partnership discussions.
- Ensure targeted sectors (Education, Training, Youth, and Sports) engage with inclusion strategies through tailored communication and stakeholder engagement.
Expertise & Support
- Provide specialist advice on diversity, equality, anti-racism, and safeguarding within programme contexts.
- Advise Erasmus+ applicants, beneficiaries, and stakeholders on embedding inclusive practices in project design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Support partners in identifying and addressing barriers to participation faced by marginalised groups.
Training & Capacity Building
- Design and deliver workshops, training programmes, and guidance materials to build inclusion-specific capabilities in organisations.
- Develop toolkits, resources, and best-practice frameworks to support implementation across sectors.
- Collaborate with communications, marketing, and delivery teams to ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and engaging.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor inclusion outcomes for Erasmus+ projects to identify trends and opportunities for enhancement.
- Report findings and recommendations to senior management, informing strategic policies and programme improvements.
- Promote and share case studies, best practices, and lessons learned to expand impact and advocate for Evidence-Based, inclusive policies.
External Advocacy & Brand Representation
- Enhance the visibility of the British Council’s and Erasmus+ National Agency’s commitments to inclusion, diversity, and equity.
- Engage with UK and international partners to strengthen sustainable, inclusive approaches in collaboration with education and skills policy landscapes.
Role-Specific Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Strong understanding of inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism policies and practices in the UK and internationally.
- Experience in embedding inclusion across programme frameworks, including design, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams to achieve clear measurable outcomes.
- Experience providing advisory support to stakeholders to promote inclusive practices, frameworks, and solutions.
- Expertise in developing, designing, and delivering training programmes that build inclusion readiness, awareness, and skills.

Desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies in education, youth, or international programme settings.
- Experience working in grant-funded, public sector, or international programme environments.
- Direct experience of supporting organisations working with underrepresented or disadvantaged groups in education, training, or youth sectors.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working effectively in diverse and collaborative environments.
