The role actively advances our commitment to international collaboration, building on previous success — where Erasmus+ UK supported 8,091 projects, engaging 583,757 participants, and allocated €1.1 billion to UK organisations.


Job Title & Position Details

Job Title: Senior Marketing, Communications and Events Manager (Erasmus+)

  • Grade & Salary: Pay Band: Grade 8 £38,820 gross per annum + £3,300 London Market Allowance (for London-based roles).

  • Contract: 2-year fixed-term with extension possibility.

  • Location: Stratford, Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh (all based outside London).

  • Right to Work: Must satisfy right-to-work requirements in the UK. The British Council does not sponsor work visas.

  • Closing Date: 8 July 2024 (22:59 UK time).

Role Purpose

Responsibility is to lead the development and delivery of the British Council’s Erasmus+ marketing strategy, focusing on:

  • Awareness-building, engagement, and applications from UK organisations.
  • Strategic communication alignment with programme priorities, stakeholder collaboration, and customer lifecycle planning for sustainable advocacy.

This position ensures consistent, audience-led marketing supporting programme objectives and institutional reach.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Strategic development and delivery: Lead all Erasmus+ marketing and communications, aligning with the programme’s priorities and wider organisational goals.
  • Audience insight & planning: Develop personas, segmentation, lifecycle models and integrated campaign frameworks to optimise engagement across all stages of the grant cycle (awareness → application → advocacy).
  • Campaign execution: Plan and deliver integrated marketing, PR, and event strategies to drive awareness, participation, and advocacy across digital, in-person, and media.
  • Brand consistency: Oversee all brand, messaging, and content ensuring alignment with standards and accessibility across campaigns.
  • Strategic consultancy: Solve complex marketing challenges, evaluate campaign performance, advise stakeholders, and embed marketing into programme design.
  • Relationship building: Foster cross-functional collaboration internally and with external partners for seamless communications delivery.
  • Performance and metrics: Define, track, and analyse KPIs, embedding data-driven continuous improvement.
  • Equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI): Promote inclusive marketing practices and align with EDI objectives.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience:

✔ Strategic marketing campaigns: Managing multi-channel programmes, end-to-end marketing strategies, and product launches. ✔ Interdisciplinary integration: Combining communications, PR, and events in cohesive campaigns. ✔ Brand & messaging: Ensuring cohesive content across marketing assets. ✔ Audience research & segmentation: Informing data-driven campaigns. ✔ Stakeholder relations: Advising senior managers and embedding marketing decisions. ✔ Tools proficiency: Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress), martech tools (HubSpot, Hootsuite), design tools (Canva, Bynder), and project management (Monday.com). ✔ Event planning: Ability to curate online and in-person physical events, including using Cvent.

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience in cultural education sectors or international development. • Proven track record of embedding marketing-led culture within complex organisations. • Expertise managing global marketing teams.

Education & Qualifications:

A degree or professional qualification in marketing, communications, business, or the equivalent professional experience.
