A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Enfield is seeking to appoint a dedicated EAL Support Mentor to join its support team from September on a long-term basis. As the successful EAL Support Mentor, you will work closely with students across KS3 and KS4 whose first language is not English, supporting them to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills so they can fully access the curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted interventions
- Provide both in-class and small-group support
- Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning where appropriate
- Monitor students' language development
- Encourage confidence both inside and outside the classroom
The ideal candidate will hold a recognised TESOL, TEFL or CELTA qualification (or equivalent) and have previous experience supporting EAL learners within a secondary school or educational setting. You will be a confident communicator, culturally aware, patient and passionate about helping every student achieve their full potential.
