Early Childhood Educator
Early Childhood Educator – Doune Nursery Class
(Temporary, 14 hours per week | £13,958 - £15,098 per annum)
Location: Doune, Stirling Hours: 7:45–18:00 on a two-week rota (Thursdays & Fridays) Contract: Temporary until 16 May 2027
About the Role
Doune Nursery Class is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and qualified Early Childhood Educator to deliver high-quality play and learning experiences within a supportive, collaborative team. This 0.4 FTE (14-hour) temporary role requires a professional committed to positive child outcomes, strong communication, and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, play-based early learning aligned with Early Level Curriculum for Excellence standards
- Plan, implement, and evaluate innovative, engaging learning experiences tailored to children’s needs (ages 3–5)
- Work closely with parents/carers to create a supportive, child-centred learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues on quality assurance, safeguarding, and interdisciplinary teaching
- Maintain administrative records (learning journeys, assessments, parent communication)
- Show commitment to continuous professional development (attending training, updating practice)
- Ensure the classroom is safe, inclusive, and stimulating for all children

Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- A fully qualified Early Childhood Educator (or equivalent qualification recognised by Education Scotland)
- Experience working with children aged 3–5 in a nursery or early learning setting
- Strong understanding of Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Play in Play-Based Learning

- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Passion for innovation and child-centred practice
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- Dedication to safeguarding children and compliance with relevant legislation

Additional Notes
- As a Stirling Council employee, you must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for Children and complete a verification check if shortlisted.
- You must be available to work early mornings (7:45) and extended sessions (up to 18:00) on a two-week rotating schedule.
