Early Talent Advisor – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
About the Role
We’re seeking an Early Talent Advisor to join our Early Talent team at National Highways on a 12-month fixed term contract.
In this role, you will take part in designing, developing, and managing early talent programmes that cultivate the skills our business requires, supporting workforce growth and long-term capability while nurturing and retaining future talent across the organisation.
You’ll collaborate closely with HR colleagues and the wider business to:
- Design and deliver impactful early talent programmes
- Support graduate and apprenticeship schemes, ensuring individuals thrive and our programmes align with both business and talent needs
- Manage programmes in-depth, acting as a subject matter expert while coordinating projects, working with external partners, and supporting colleagues across the business
- Analyse data, measure programme effectiveness, and refine our approach to early careers
This position operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week in the Snowhill, Birmingham office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design early talent solutions tailored to attracting, retaining, and developing talent across specific programmes
- Manage end-to-end early talent initiatives, ensuring operational excellence as a subject matter expert
- Work with third-party suppliers to deliver early talent initiatives, monitoring performance against KPIs
- Develop internal and external communications, plus guidance materials, to support the early talent strategy
- Support employees and line managers through the early talent process
- Ensure data integrity, including keeping data sources up to date, addressing errors, and developing new reports in collaboration with other HR functions

About You
We’re looking for a candidate with:
- Proven experience in managing end-to-end early talent programmes (e.g., graduate, apprenticeship, internship, or work experience schemes), preferably within a large, multi-site organisation
- Working knowledge of apprenticeship programmes and the apprenticeship levy, including administration and coordination of levy-funded training
- Demonstrated project coordination skills, with experience managing external suppliers for early talent initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management abilities, with a track record of building collaborative relationships across the business and with external partners
- A highly organised, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset, combined with attention to detail and the capacity to balance multiple priorities while delivering exceptional learner and stakeholder experiences
