Are you looking to train in childcare? A friendly, preschool is looking for an Early Years Apprentice to join their team. The successful candidate will work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities.
As an Early Years Apprentice, you will contribute to a high quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly, and stimulating atmosphere where children can develop emotionally, socially, and educationally. Under supervision, you will provide all aspects of care for children, assist with meeting their personal and emotional needs, and act as a key worker for a small group, recording observations and planning for them. You will also be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and adhering to the preschool's policies and procedures. All work must be completed to desired timescales as set by Showcase Tutor.
Requirements
- GCSE in English (grade 4 or C and above)
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4 or C and above)
- Ability to travel to the employer on a daily basis.
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Responsibilities
- Creating warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally
- Under supervision you will provide all aspects of care for children
- Assisting with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
- Acting as key worker to a small group of children and recording observations and planning for them
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Being aware of the preschool's policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to
- Completing all work to desired timescales as set by Showcase Tutor

Application Process
- Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
- Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard:
- NCFE/CACHE Level 3 Standard for the Early Years Educator
- Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 2 minimum (unless exempt)
- Paediatric First Aid
- Training completed via work-based visits at the preschool and 4 hours of study time provided for coursework.

We plan our teaching with individual children in mind, focusing on children learning through play in a happy and open environment. We have a wide variety of activities for children to access which cover all areas of learning. We plan with individual children in mind using the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We include a balance of both adult and child initiated activities.
Our school opened in 1984, and so we’ve built strong connections with the local schools, including Denmead Infants School and Berewood Primary School.
