About the Apprenticeship

At LEYF, our Apprentices gain recognition through hands-on experience, earn a qualification, and shape the future of children aged 0-5. Working within a supportive environment, you’ll spend three days at a nursery and one day at our Apprenticeship Academy, receiving extra paid training including:

  • Professional one-to-one support from tutors
  • Weekly study sessions and learning materials
  • A dedicated cohort of 20-25 learners for shared growth and mentorship

As Apprentices progress, we celebrated graduates like Becky—now a Level 3 Early Years Teacher—and Michelle, who continues inspiring new Apprentices through her role as Programme Manager.

Eligibility Requirements

To join, you must:

  • Be aged 16+ (no upper age limit)
  • Hold or be able to obtain:
    • Current right to work in the UK
    • Level 2 Functional Skills (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above), or commit to reading/training towards this—LEYF offers dedicated support
  • Commit to a full-time role, all year round

Apprenticeship Programme Details

  • Start Dates: January, April, September, November
  • Duration: 12 months (potential of completing qualification faster)
  • Structure:
    • 4 days at a LEYF nursery (base placement)
    • 1 day at the Apprenticeship Academy (paid with your weekly hours)
  • Support: Guidance from nursery managers and LEYF-trained coaching staff
  • Networking: Educational trips, cohort collaboration, week-long training (beyond standard agency provision)
