Early Years Assistant

Bright Horizons: Early Years Assistant – Harpenden Luton Road Day Nursery & Preschool

Location & Salary

  • Location: Harpenden, within walking distance of the town centre (onsite parking available)
  • Salary: Starting from £27,580.80 per year (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Setting: Beautiful converted Victorian house, seven spacious rooms, including a distinctive log cabin nursery room and large outdoor play area

About the Role

As an Early Years Assistant, you will work alongside a dedicated team to nurture children aged 0–5 through interactive play, creative activities, and nurturing development towards key milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide world-class care and education for babies and toddlers.
  • Engage children through play, storytelling, and early learning experiences.
  • Support children’s physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
  • Build strong trustful partnerships with parents, colleagues, and children.
  • Contribute to a safeguarding-focused environment (enhanced DBS required).

Requirements

  • Previous experience with children is ideal (not essential) – roles such as:
    • Nursery Bank/Assistant
    • Teaching/Nursery Practitioner
    • Early Years Educator
    • Nanny/Childminder
  • A genuine passion for making learning fun, engaging and age-appropriate.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with both children and adults.
  • Commitment to Bright Horizons’ safeguarding policies.
