Early Years Chef

Early Years Chef – Bright Horizons Cedar House Day Nursery & Preschool

Location 6 Dryden Road, Enfield, Middlesex, EN1 2PP

Salary Starting from £31,948.80 per annum (dependent on qualifications & experience)

Hours Full-time – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Role

As an Early Years Chef, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, cooking, and serving age-appropriate meals for nursery children while minimising waste
  • Ensuring all dietary requirements (including allergies) are met and clearly communicated
  • Working alongside the nursery team and parents to promote healthy, nutritious eating
  • Leading interactive cookery sessions with children
  • Supporting nursery events, such as BBQs, fetes, and staff meetings

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a cooking or culinary role (domestic or commercial)
  • A passion for nutrition and inspiring others in healthy eating
  • Strong knowledge of managing dietary needs, especially food allergies
  • A Level 2 Food Safety qualification (CIEH or equivalent) – required from day one
  • Sound understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, children, and parents
  • Ability to work under pressure
