Early Years Compliance Officer
Compliance Officer
The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all Banana Moon franchise nurseries within their designated region meet applicable regulatory standards, safeguarding requirements, and internal quality benchmarks.
The role involves regular visits to nurseries to verify compliance through the self-audit process, conduct safeguarding audits, and support centres in maintaining inspection readiness.
Responsibilities

Manage the quarterly self-audit process for nurseries in the region, including:
- Receiving submissions
- Reviewing results
- Conducting follow-up verification visits
- Escalating gaps to the Head of Compliance

Conduct regular compliance visits to franchise nurseries, assessing adherence to:
- EYFS/Ofsted (England)
- National Standards/Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland (Scotland)
- Minimum Standards/CIW and Estyn (Wales)
- Banana Moon operational standards

Carry out safeguarding audits, ensuring centres maintain full compliance.

Support nurseries in preparing for regulatory inspections, including:
- Identifying areas for improvement
- Guiding corrective actions
- Ensuring inspection readiness

Identify and report common compliance trends to the Head of Compliance, contributing to network-wide training priorities.

Serve as the compliance point of contact for nurseries, building strong relationships with franchisees and nursery managers.

Communicate compliance gaps to the Training & Development team to inform targeted training initiatives.
Additional Key Duties
- Ensure quarterly self-audit reviews, verification visits, and action plan monitoring are completed.
- Provide clear written reports and action points for compliance visits within agreed deadlines.
- Offer ongoing onsite, virtual, and telephone developmental support.
- Contribute to Early Years & Development support planning.
- Escalate significant concerns to the Head of Compliance.
- Refer non-compliance issues to the relevant Franchise Support Team.
- Support regulatory inspections within the network when possible.

Note: This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across the UK. Flexible, hybrid working is available, including home-based work and occasional visits to the Warwick-based Franchise Support Office. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
