Compliance Officer – Banana Moon
The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all Banana Moon franchise nurseries within their designated region meet applicable regulatory standards, safeguarding requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. This role involves regular visits to nurseries to verify compliance through self-audit processes, conduct safeguarding audits, and support centres in maintaining inspection readiness.
Responsibilities
- Manage the quarterly self-audit process for nurseries in the region:
- Receive submissions
- Review results
- Conduct follow-up verification visits
- Escalate gaps to the Head of Compliance
- Conduct regular compliance visits to franchise nurseries, assessing adherence to:
- EYFS/Ofsted (England)
- National Standards/Care Inspectorate & Education Scotland (Scotland)
- Minimum Standards/CIW & Estyn (Wales)
- Carry out safeguarding audits to ensure full compliance across all assigned nurseries
- Support nurseries in preparing for regulatory inspections, providing guidance on areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are completed
- Identify and report common compliance trends within the region to the Head of Compliance, contributing to network-wide training priorities
- Serve as the designated compliance point of contact for nurseries in the region, fostering strong working relationships with franchisees and nursery managers
- Communicate compliance gaps to the Training & Development team to inform targeted training

This role is field-based, requiring regular travel to franchise locations across the UK. The position offers flexible, hybrid working, including:
- Home-based work
- Occasional visits to our Warwick-based Franchise Support Office
- Overnight stays when required
Requirements
A successful candidate will:
- Manage the quarterly self-audit process:
- Review submissions
- Conduct verification visits
- Identify compliance gaps
- Monitor action plans
- Escalate significant concerns to the Head of Compliance
- Carry out regular compliance visits, assessing adherence to regulatory frameworks and Banana Moon operational standards, while providing clear feedback for improvement
- Conduct safeguarding, learning & development, and facilities audits, ensuring procedures are robust and fully compliant
- Support nurseries in regulatory inspection preparedness by:
- Identifying areas for improvement
- Monitoring progress against actions
- Ensuring inspection readiness
- Identify, analyse, and report regional compliance trends to the Head of Compliance for network-wide improvements
- Serve as the primary compliance contact for assigned nurseries
- Build positive professional relationships with franchisees and managers
- Promote continuous improvement
- Communicate compliance gaps and training needs to the Training & Development team
- Provide detailed written reports with action points within agreed deadlines
- Offer onsite, virtual, and telephone support for sustained development
- Contribute to Early Years & Development support planning
- Support continuous professional development
- Escalate significant concerns to the Head of Compliance
- Refer non-compliance issues to the relevant Franchise Support Team
- Assist with regulatory inspections when possible
