Early Years Educator Tutor

Role Details

Basis

  • Target Start Date: 07/09/2026
  • Working Pattern: Mondays, 9:30–15:00 (33 weekly 5-hour sessions)
  • Qualification Delivered: [Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Workforce – Early Years Educator Level 3 Diploma (NCFE CACHE)](https://www caching.com)

Salary (Grade 7, SCP 23–33)

£28.55 – £35.05 per hour (including holidays)


About the Role

Sutton College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Early Years Educator Tutor to deliver the Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Workforce – Early Years Educator Level 3 Diploma.

What You Will Do

  • Provide learners with the knowledge and skills to work with children from birth to five years, while gaining insights into children aged five to seven years.
  • Ensure learners achieve the qualification and are eligible to enter the Childcare workforce, meeting staff-to-child ratios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and organised learning environment, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Create a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere that supports skill development and confidence.
  • Engage diverse learners through a variety of teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth.

Strategic Contributions

  • Teach on-site at Sutton College with focus on high-quality delivery through quality assurance.
  • Support curriculum development, personalised employment support, and learner progression.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Curriculum & Quality to meet strategic goals, particularly targeting Adult Skills Fund priority groups.
  • Contribute to a vibrant, results-driven curriculum that aligns with learner and employer needs.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Teaching in Adult Education, Further Education (Post-16 College, or Training Environments).
  • Experience teaching multiple levels in the Early Years/Childcare subject area.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement processes in education.

Professional Requirements

  • Appropriate teaching qualification for Post-16 Sector (e.g., DET, Cert. Ed. or equivalent).
  • Subject-specific qualification to at least Level 4 (e.g., HND, 1st Degree) plus in-depth knowledge of the role.
  • 3+ years’ substantial experience in Early Years Educator/Childcare Sector.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in:
    • English
    • Mathematics

Desirable (Not Mandatory)

  • A1 (Assessors Unit) or TAQA Assessor Award.
  • Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
