Nursery – Broadgreen Hospital, Merseyside – Early Years Kitchen Assistant

Salaried Role

Salary: Starting from £12.75/hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Location: Broadgreen Hospital, Merseyside L14 3LB

We are looking for an Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join Bright Horizons Broadgreen Nursery on a 20-hour/week basis, Monday to Friday (10:00 - 14:00).

Role Overview

As Early Years Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Chef in:

  • Preparing and cooking age-appropriate food for all nursery children with minimum wastage.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Ensuring dietary requirements are catered for (including food allergies) when the Chef is unavailable.
  • Communicating all dietary needs clearly to teams as required.

You may also be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef.


Requirements

  • Previous experience in a cooking role (domestic or commercial).
  • A genuine passion for nutrition and inspiring others to adopt healthy eating habits.
  • Strong knowledge of food allergies and managing different dietary requirements.
  • A Food Safety certification (CIEH Level 2 or equivalent) – must be provided on day one.
  • Good understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
  • Strong communication skills — with colleagues, children, and parents.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure.
