Early Years Practitioner (EYFS Assistant)

Location: South Bristol Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time (9 hours per day) Role: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Assistant (qualified or unqualified)


About the Role

We are seeking an EYFS Assistant with experience, energy, and a passion for supporting young children’s development. Based in a warm, supportive nursery environment, you will work closely with the Room Leader and other staff to deliver a fun, engaging, and nurturing learning experience for children.

This role is suitable for both qualified and unqualified assistants who are eager to contribute to a growing nursery class. The school fosters a culture of encouragement, friendship, and inclusivity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and Enhance Learning: Collaborate with the teaching team to implement a play-based learning approach, tailored to children’s individual needs.
  • Be First-Team Role Model: Lead and support a range of classroom activities, fostering curiosity and creativity.
  • Nurture Holistic Development: Understand and apply principles of the EYFS curriculum, ensuring children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Build Meaningful Relationships: Uphold a caring, presence-based approach, inspiring children to reach their full potential.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain clear, collaborative communication with parents, staff, and colleagues to ensure consistency and warmth.

Requirements

✅ Essential:

  • Prior experience working in a nursery or early years setting (EYFS qualification is a plus).

  • Passion for childcare, enthusiasm for play-based learning, and ability to create a fun, motivating environment.

  • Strong team ethos and professionalism.

  • Basic understanding of child development, health, and safety protocols.
