Early Years Practitioner – Level 2/3 | Bright Horizons St Johns Wood Nursery & Preschool

• Location: Bright Horizons, St Johns Wood, NW8 0NH (near St Johns Wood, Swiss Cottage, and South Hampstead tube stations) • Salary: Starting at £29,972.80 p.a. (Level 2) or £31,158.40 p.a. (Level 3+) • Hours: Full-time or part-time


About the Role

At our St Johns Wood nursery, we’re seeking an Early Years Practitioner to join the baby room, working in a warm, supportive, and highly inclusive environment. Whether you’re helping little ones reach developmental milestones, fostering curiosity, or nurturing their confidence—you’ll play a vital role shaping the next generation.

Our leafy residential setting combines easy commute access (5-min walk to South Hampstead Overground; 10-min walk to St Johns Wood/Swiss Cottage tube) with professionally supported career growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and adapt developmentally appropriate activities tailored to each child’s needs, supporting their milestones across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth.
  • Create a safe, loving environment where children feel carefree to explore, express themselves, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, parents, and carers to build trusting partnerships, sharing progress and nurturing each child’s unique development.
  • Follow and uphold Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework with consistency and creativity.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies rigorously.

Requirements

✔ Qualification(s):

  • Fully qualified Early Years Practitioner at Level 2 (minimum requirement)
  • Level 3 qualification and above recognised for the £31,158.40 p.a. salary band.

✔ Essential:

  • Passion for early childhood education and creating inclusive, stimulating environments.
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS and its application in a nurturing setting.
  • Excellent safeguarding compliance understanding (DBS check and background verification required).
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence to build strong rapport with children, colleagues, and families.

✔ Attitude:

  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team-driven framework, combining independence with teamwork.
