Early Years Practitioner - Newcastle upon Tyne (Full-Time/Part-Time)
We are seeking caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years Practitioners to join welcoming and supportive Early Years settings across Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate practitioners who are committed to providing high-quality care and education while helping young children develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
The settings are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and stimulating environments where children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships. Staff work collaboratively to deliver outstanding Early Years provision, ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning and development through engaging, play-based experiences while working closely with colleagues and families to provide the highest standards of care and education.
This is an immediate start opportunity, with both full-time and part-time positions available. Working patterns are flexible between the operating hours of 07:30 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and education for children within the Early Years setting.
- Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
- Support children's communication, language, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to planning and individual next steps.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Support children's independence, confidence, and wellbeing through positive interactions.
- Assist with daily routines, including personal care where required.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and safeguarding at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider Early Years team to deliver exceptional care and education.

Essential Criteria
- A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification – essential.
- A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to work within the operating hours of 07:30–18:00, Monday to Friday.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Criteria
- Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
- Experience supporting babies, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of child development and effective observation and assessment practices.
- Experience planning engaging Early Years activities and learning opportunities.
