Role Description

The Early Years Practitioner role is a full-time, on-site position based in Glasgow. The practitioner will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in line with early years frameworks.
  • Supervise children, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Observe and record developmental progress.
  • Communicate effectively with families and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with the nursery team to implement child-centred routines.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning.
  • Support smooth transitions throughout the day.
  • Help maintain nursery resources.
  • Follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and practical experience working with children in an early years or childcare setting.
  • Creativity skills to design and deliver engaging, play-based learning activities that support holistic development.
  • Organization skills to manage routines, maintain accurate records, and ensure a well-prepared learning environment.
  • Relevant early years qualification (e.g., SVQ, HNC, or equivalent in Childcare/Early Years Education) and understanding of local early years frameworks and safeguarding practices are beneficial.
  • Experience in nursery or early years settings, basic IT skills for documentation, and a commitment to ongoing professional learning are advantageous.
