Parkgate Primary School – Early Years Teaching Assistant (Trauma-Informed & Relational Approach)

The Role
We are seeking a passionate, compassionate Early Years Teaching Assistant who understands how to foster positive behaviours through relational engagement and trauma-informed strategies. This is a chance to make a truly meaningful impact on vulnerable children’s emotional well-being and learning journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEND support staff to create learning environments that prioritise:
- Emotional regulation
- Reconnection for children after experiences of trauma or adversity
- Support children’s development by:
- Adapting practice not just to age, but to developmental stage
- Facilitating restorative conversations
- Implementing a "Connect before Correct" approach
- Enable children to take confident steps in their education—progressing academically and emotionally
- Play a vital role in ensuring equal access to school life, helping children build resilience and trust

About You
- You specialize in relational teaching and understand the importance of addressing childhood trauma within a nurturing school environment.
- You are caring, empathetic, and committed to giving vulnerable children equality of opportunity.
- You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to provide holistic support.
- You are patient, encouraging, and adaptable—with a proactive attitude to emotional well-being.
- You hold meaningful education qualifications (relevant to early years or EA/Specialist positions) or demonstrate extensive experience in this field.
Salary & Benefits (Grade 3)
- £20,875 – £21,885 per annum, adjusted for 35-hour contracts (pro-rata applies)
- Hours of work: Monday–Friday, 8.15 AM–3.45 PM, across 39 weeks per year
