Role Description
The Early Years Teaching Assistant will support teaching and learning within the nursery and early years classes in this full-time, on-site role based in Romford. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Assisting the class teacher in delivering age-appropriate activities
- Helping to set up and maintain engaging learning environments
- Supporting children’s social, emotional, and academic development
The role involves:
- Supervising children during lessons, playtime, and transitions
- Promoting positive behavior
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils
The Early Years Teaching Assistant will:
- Contribute to observations and records of children’s progress
- Communicate effectively with staff and families as required
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
Collaboration with colleagues to uphold the school’s values and high standards of care and education is a key component of this role.
Qualifications
- Experience working with early years or primary-aged children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Relevant early years or teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years Education, Childcare, or equivalent), or progress towards such a qualification.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning approaches.
- Ability to support classroom activities, including small-group work, one-to-one support, and differentiated learning.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with children, colleagues, and families.
- Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
- Organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to follow routines and school policies consistently.
- Positive, patient, and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training.

Desirable:
- Experience in independent schools or nurseries
- Familiarity with early years frameworks and assessment practices
