Early Years Teaching Assistant – Washington
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Washington from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Early Years practitioner who is committed to supporting young children as they begin their educational journey within a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
The school is a well-established and highly regarded primary setting with a strong reputation for providing a caring, inclusive, and child-centred education. Staff are committed to creating a positive learning environment where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity, and independence. As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team to provide high-quality support for children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping them develop the essential skills needed for future learning through engaging, play-based experiences.

- Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to planning and next steps.
- Encourage children's independence, confidence, and positive behaviour through high-quality interactions.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, Early Years team, and parents to support children's learning and development.
- Prepare learning resources and assist with the organisation of the classroom environment.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
