Do you have experience of delivering high-profile civic events and coordinating a wide range of stakeholders? Can you bring confidence, discretion and excellent organisational skills to a varied role supporting senior leaders and community partners? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a rare opportunity to support one of the most distinctive and prestigious public roles in the county.

About the Role

As East Sussex Lieutenancy Officer, you will provide dedicated support to the Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex, His Majesty The King's personal representative in the county. You will play a key role in supporting the Lord-Lieutenant’s work across East Sussex, helping to recognise and promote the achievements of local people, communities, businesses and voluntary organisations through civic and Royal engagement.

No two days are the same. One day you could be coordinating arrangements for a Royal Visit; the next you might be organising an investiture ceremony, preparing a briefing for a community event, supporting nominations for national honours, or helping to celebrate outstanding volunteers through the King's Award for Voluntary Service.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with senior leaders, civic dignitaries, community organisations, Royal Households and public sector partners, while making a real contribution to recognising and celebrating achievement across East Sussex.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
