At Mick George Group, we are currently recruiting an Operations Manager for the Eastern District to join the Concrete Department, covering our concrete plants.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm | Saturdays as required
Remuneration: Competitive salary (to be discussed at interview)

The Role
Role Purpose
The Operations Manager (Concrete) will:
- Ensure MG Concrete adheres to company policies, legal regulations, and integrated management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
- Maintain compliance with BS 8500 readiness mix standards for product quality

- Management of Group and MG Concrete policies (including health & safety, environmental, and operational standards)
- Oversee operational efficiency and budget performance of concrete plants

Maintain the highest health & safety standards across all operational sites
- Ensure compliance with BS 8500 for Ready Mix Concrete
- Conduct Health & Safety audits, investigations, and improvements:
- Site inspections and corrective action reviews
- Identifying non-conformances and recording Improvement Logs
- Updating and closing MG Concrete Improvement Logs via Activ
- Support managers in accident and incident investigations
- Lead collaboration with site supervisors/managers and contribute to Monthly Board Meetings
- Train staff in new or existing standards and identify training and mentoring needs
- Support performance-driven certifications (e.g., Carbon Net Zero initiatives)
- Stay updated on sustainability and health & safety compliance (CPDs)
- Conduct site inspections (including Council, BSI, QSRMC, SHEQ, and Director audits)
Requirements & Skills
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B or C, depending on operational needs)
- Proven management experience in the concrete industry
- Familiarity with health & safety legislation and practices
- Proficiency in ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 compliance frameworks
- Side experience (not an office role only)
- Methodical and adaptable across dynamic tasks
