eCARE Senior Development Analyst (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum, pro rata
Hours: 22.5 hrs per week
Note: All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
The IT Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a forward-thinking team dedicated to maintaining up-to-date, responsive systems that support hospital operations. They continuously integrate new technologies while ensuring staff have the resources needed to deliver exceptional care.
This is a temporary maternity cover role focused on designing, developing, building, and configuring new deployments and upgrades to the eCARE application (Oracle Cerner Millennium).
About the Role
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and building new implementations
- Configuring and upgrading Oracle Cerner Millennium systems
- Creating and peer-reviewing test scripts for eCARE applications and interfaces
- Leading functional, system, and integration testing of software, peripherals, and related components
- Contributing to overall application quality assurance and performance
This position also involves:
- Collaborating with the eCARE Development Manager to manage the technical framework for eCARE and internal teams
- Delivering expert-level technical support for the Electronic Patient Record (eCARE) System, including troubleshooting complex issues
- Enhancing and optimising existing system functionality, possibly through end-user or Back Office engagement

Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing ongoing technical framework maintenance for eCARE and internal support teams.
- Supporting the Trust’s Oracle Cerner Millennium (eCARE) Electronic Patient Record System and its optimisation.
- Providing high-level IT and technical development services across systems implementation, upgrades, and critical support:
- Ensuring consistent, quality technical assistance to all users.
- Resolving complex eCARE-related issues (in consultation with the eCARE Development Manager).
- Working with end users and IT teams to optimise and advance system functionality.
Essential Requirements
Experience in:
- Working in a healthcare environment, particularly with applications development and configuration/optimisation.
- Planning, building, and testing Oracle Cerner Millennium (or similar healthcare IT solutions), including functional, system, and integration testing.
- Documenting technical processes or guidance (dev/test scripting, system/functional requirements).
Additionally:
- Hands-on expertise in electronic patient record systems/features.
- Familiarity with supplementary systems (e.g., interfaces, peripherals) is advantageous.
- Collaboration across multiple teams (clinical, technical, end-users).
