💷 £68,000–£73,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, proudly independent practice near Swerford, Oxfordshire.
This busy 24-hour hospital provides exceptional care for its own clients, offering manageable overnight caseloads and excellent continuity of care. Supported by an experienced Night Nurse team, you'll enjoy genuine clinical freedom while managing a varied mix of emergency presentations and hospitalised inpatients.
The rota offers an excellent work-life balance, working one week on followed by two weeks off, giving you plenty of time to recharge.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Providing overnight care for hospitalised small animal patients.
- Managing emergency cases with confidence and clinical autonomy.
- Conducting evening consults, ward rounds, overnight monitoring and patient discharges.
- Working closely with an experienced Night Nurse team to deliver outstanding patient care.
- Preparing detailed clinical notes and handovers for the day team.
- Ensuring the hospital is well prepared for the morning shift.

About You
You'll be:
- RCVS registered.
- An experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' UK experience.
- Confident working sole charge overnight.
- Comfortable managing emergency cases and inpatient care.
- A calm, compassionate communicator with excellent clinical judgement.
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently while remaining part of a supportive wider team.

As the hospital is in a rural location, your own transport is essential. Accommodation is available during your working week, and the practice is within approximately one hour of a major international airport, making it an excellent option for vets relocating to or travelling within the UK.
