To take full ownership of the Instruments and Controls (I&C) package, acting as the package lead to manage performance, drive progress, and ensure delivery against the agreed programme. The role will provide clear leadership across design, manufacture and installation, cutting through issues, blockers, and unnecessary complexity to maintain momentum and protect key milestones. In parallel, the role will be responsible for onboarding and establishing a new I&C subcontractor, setting expectations early and embedding robust package controls. You will be accountable for programme, coordination, and outcomes, with a strong focus on delivery, accountability, and results.
Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities
- Receive information from Project Manager or Lead Project Engineer. Review and understand package requirements and documentation and highlight discrepancies.
- In line with defined project sizes, plan, monitor, determine and arrange resource levels, materials requirements and site demands to ensure efficient operation of the Project package.
- Review and understand client specifications. Prepare internal specifications and manufacturing details.
- Take a leading role in building services co-ordination exercises in conjunction with any contractual obligations
- Coordinate with the design and engineering department to ensure that the correct standards, specifications and information is produced in order that the project targets and obligations are achieved.
- Assist and define in the procurement of equipment and materials to comply with requirements and delivery needs.
- Contribute to the commercial management of the project. Be aware of specific project commercial constraints.
- Recognise variations and delays to the tendered scope of works and ensure they are properly reported and recorded.
- Contribute and provide information for the submission of valuations and invoices.
- Supervise others of a lesser grade. Lead by example and show initiative. Develop team spirit and job involvement.
- Carry out accurate site surveys and site measures and demonstrate flexibility in terms of site visiting being site based as necessary.
- Develop a working relationship with the client.
- Attend site meetings as required by the Project Manager or Lead Project Engineer, to expand and develop relationships and promote the company positively
- Contribute to the preparation of safe systems of work including generation of method statements, risk assessments etc.

Show Your Expertise
- Demonstrable experience leading and managing I&C or MEP packages, with clear accountability for programme, coordination, and delivery.
- Proven track record of simplifying complex technical and organisational problems, removing unnecessary process, and driving clear, pragmatic solutions to maintain progress.
- Experience of cutting through, ambiguity, competing, priorities, and excessive, governance to focus teams on what is required to achieve delivery against the agreed schedule.
- Strong capability in challenging poor performance, unclear scope, and ineffective ways of working, while maintaining constructive relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
- Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers, including onboarding, Performance management, and holding parties to account for outputs and milestones.
- Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems, sufficient to manage scope
- Ability to manage and control technical deliverables to support programme, rather than personally producing detailed design.
- Experience managing interfaces between I&C, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, ensuring coordinated and buildable solutions.
- Competent in programme-led delivery, including tracking progress, identifying risks, and driving corrective action where performance is off track.
- Able to cut through technical complexity, translate issues into clear actions, and keep teams focused on what is required to achieve delivery.
- Confident in decision-making and issue resolution, escalating where necessary to protect safety, quality, and schedule.
Qualifications
Engineering or Science degree preferred. HND / HNC
